Over 30 years of fitting dancers has taught us one thing above all else: the right dance shoe changes everything. How you move, how you feel, how your technique develops. It all starts with the shoe. Dance Direct stocks a specialist range of dance shoes for ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, character, chorus and contemporary dance, covering every age and level from a toddler's first ballet shoe to a professional's performance shoe.

Ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, character and chorus shoes

Ballet shoes come in leather, canvas and satin with full sole and split sole options for beginners through to advanced students. Pointe shoes are fitted individually for the right box shape, shank strength and vamp length. Jazz shoes cover leather and canvas, slip-on and lace-up, split sole and full sole in black and tan. Tap shoes include Mary Jane, lace-up and slip-on styles with low heel and Cuban heel options. Character shoes cover flat heel and Cuban heel styles for RAD exams, folk dancing, ballroom and stage work. Chorus shoes are built for musical theatre and stage performance in ankle strap and T-bar styles.

Contemporary and lyrical footwear

Contemporary and lyrical dance uses foot thongs, half soles and turning boards rather than a traditional shoe. Dance Direct stocks a range of contemporary footwear and accessories to suit lyrical, contemporary and modern dance styles at every level.

Choosing the right dance shoe

Dance shoes are a specialist product. The right fit, sole type and material depends on the dance style, the syllabus and the level of the dancer.
