The right shoe changes how a dancer moves. A ballet shoe that fits shows off the arch, a jazz shoe that grips lets a dancer turn with confidence, and a tap shoe with a good sound makes class more fun. Ballet, jazz and tap shoes
Ballet shoes come in canvas and leather, split sole and full sole, in girls, women's, boys and men's sizes. Jazz shoes in tan and black slip on with a split sole that bends with the foot, in girls, women's, boys and men's styles. Tap shoes range from Mary Jane buckle styles for little beginners to lace-up oxfords for advanced dancers, in girls, women's, boys and men's sizes. Our own Dance Direct range covers all three, along with character shoes and a half sole turning shoe.
Character and chorus shoes
Character shoes are the shoe for RAD exams and character class, and they also suit folk, Greek and cultural dance. Chorus shoes are a different shoe for a different job: musical theatre, productions and teaching, with a range of heel heights.
Pointe, lyrical and turning shoes
Pointe shoes from Capezio and Freed by Energetiks cover beginner through to advanced dancers, with different shanks and platforms for different feet. For contemporary and lyrical, turning shoes and half soles protect the ball of the foot while leaving the rest free to grip the floor.
Booties, sneakers and social dance shoes
Warm-up booties keep feet warm between classes and backstage. Dance sneakers are the pick for hip hop and commercial classes. Social dance shoes cover ballroom and Latin heels and men's dance oxfords.
